Middle level ICT integration

  My reflection

Today, we were oriented on using PhET stimulation to construct circuit. The PhET simulation is flexible and offer dynamic field for exploration. It is educational tools developed by the university of Colorado Boulder. They cover wide range of science and math topics and allow students to explore concepts through hands-on virtual experimentation. These simulations are designed to engage learners and help them visualize abstract concepts in a dynamic and interactive way. PhET simulations are valuable for several reasons like interactive learning, visualization, experimentation, accessibility and customization.

The PhET simulation provide many opportunities for learner to explore and learn. It visually captures student's interest and motivate them to explore scientific concepts. It is dynamic way to experiment with abstract concepts, leading to deeper comprehension. Simulation allows students to conduct experiment that might otherwise be difficult or unsafe to perform in a traditional classroom setting. Educators can use simulations to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, providing for hands- on experience that cater to individual needs. By simulations, students can see the practical applications of theoretical concepts

The middle level of ICT integration refers to a stage in a teacher's proficiency with technology where they have moved beyond the basic use of digital tools and are able to integrate technology purposefully to enhance their teaching and support student learning outcomes. At this level, teachers are proficient in using a variety of digital tools and resources, including multimedia presentations, interactive simulations, online collaborative platforms, and educational apps. They understand how to select and use technology purposefully to support their teaching goals and objectives, and they can differentiate instruction and personalize learning experiences using technology.

Teachers at the middle level of ICT integration are able to assess student learning effectively using digital assessment tools and provide timely feedback to support student growth and achievement. They are also committed to ongoing professional growth and development in the area of technology integration, seeking out opportunities for training, collaboration, and networking to enhance their skills and stay abreast of new developments in educational technology. Overall, the middle level of ICT integration represents a significant milestone in a teacher's journey toward becoming a more proficient and effective user of technology in the classroom, ultimately preparing students for success in an increasingly digital world.

Lesson plan: 1

Topic: Bending lights

Subjects: Science

Class: vi

Section: C

Duration: 45 Minutes

Teacher name: Rinchen Pemo

Teaching learning materials: Textbooks, PhET simulations, PowerPoint

Previous Knowledge: They have learned about definition of light

Learning Objectives

At the end of the class students will be able to:

1.Define refraction on their own words after teacher’s explanation

2. Demonstrate process of refraction using PhET simulation correctly without anyone’s help

3. Recognize real life application of refraction with correct examples after activity

Lesson introduction (5 minutes)

Attention gaining

Teacher: class.... Class

Students: yes.... yes.

  • Ask students what the topic by will be looking at picture below

  • Receive opinions

  • Let them justify their opinion

  • Share to students that we are going to learn about refraction

Lesson development ( 10 minutes)

Attention Gaining

Teacher: Ready to rock?

Students: Ready to roll

Information Input

- Explain about refraction to students using above pictures

- Explain process of refraction

- Relate it to examples

Activity 1 (10 minutes)

Attention Gaining

Teachers: All set?

Students: You bet?

Instruction

1.Read and understand content about bending of the light

2.use Google search engine and type in “PhET simulations” in the search text box or use the

link: The links

3. Click on “All sims- PhET sim”

4. Select Light and radiation

5. Under this select bending lights

6. Click the “play” button/ Download button and wait for few seconds (time to download the application)

7. Click on downloaded file on the left bottom corner

8. Click on the “Run” button to run the application (need to wait for few seconds to load the application

9.Use the electrical light, protector, refractometer to measure intensity and state whether light refracted

or not in following sequence:

  1. Intensity of refracted light in water

  2. Intensity of refracted light in air

  3. Intensity of refracted light in Glass

- First, I will demonstrate how to use PhET simulation

- After that they can do activity on PhET simulation and fill up following table in processing of doing work

on PhET simulation

Follow up activity ( 10 minutes)

- Let students will show their work

- After that i will observe their work

Assessment procedure (5 Minutes)

-Go through the worksheet 1.O

-Use the following checklist during lesson

Lesson closure (5 minutes)

Attention Gaining

Teacher: Alligator........alligator

Students: yes educator

-Summarize the key points

- Ask students following questions

  1. What is refraction?

  2. Why do lights bend?

  3. Why do we have to study refraction?
