SAMR

My Reflection on SAMR

The SAMR model is a framework that helps educators integrate Technology into teaching and learning. SAMR stands for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition,

which are the four levels of technology integration. At substitution level, Technology acts as

a direct substitute for traditional methods, with no functional change. For example, using video

links to teach. At augmentation level, technology acts as a direct substitute, but with functional

improvement. For example, using a word processor with grammar tools enhancing writing

process. At modification level, technology allows significant task redesign. for instance, using

Google docs for collaborative writing and feedback, enabling real-time collaboration and

communication. At redefinition level, technology allows for the creation of new task that were

previously inconvincible. An example could be students creating a multimedia project.

The SAMR model aims to encourage educators to move beyond merely replacing traditional

methods with technology transforming learning experiences in a way that were not possible

before. I find learning about SAMR model highly beneficial as it provides a structed approach

to integrating technology into education. It will help educators enhance their teaching practice,

engages students in meaningful ways, and supports the overall improvement of educational

institutions. By understanding and applying SAMR model, educators can transform learning

experiences and prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of digital age.
